Steph and I are in Virginia on a 5 day house hunt. We'll return to Arkansas with "house in hand" on Wednesday (or we won't return until we have one.) Our dogs are being babysat at home by my ex (you all remember Boni, I'm sure), while we search for the perfect, in-our-price-range, with a fence and a place to park, house to rent, starting...oh in less than 10 days! Yikes. But we did find one today that we are gonna check out further in the morning. Today started "Steph's 5 Days of Vegan Livin" and aside from a shitty veggie burger at Burger King, she has been happy with Day 1, though she did say, "I could go for a chicken right now." Blech. Anyway, she is trying and I love her for it! Wish us luck on both the house search and her ability to be meat-free for a little under a week. Will update yall when I have more info...even if this isn't a From SAD to RAW update, I thought some of you might be interested in just a 'what's happenin' update.

We're flying back to Arkansas today.
We found a house in the community of Hampton Roads, Virginia. 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 story, hardwood floors, 2100 sq ft., fenced back yard, 1 car garage and is located along the Elizabeth River, which I guess is an inlet of the Chesapeake Bay/Atlantic Ocean. Steph and I both start work on March 3rd. so we’re gonna be super busy in the next 9 days, getting our boxes and furniture loaded, transported by pods, and driving us and our 4 dogs 1,200 miles (20+ hour drive) from Fayetteville to Virginia, and getting unpacked and settled in ALL before the 3rd.
I've been most proud of Steph during our 5 day trip. She has been 100% vegan and actually enjoyed it. She seems to want to find a chicken and chew off it's little leg, but I think she's really seeing how good eating vegan can taste AND feel. She hasn't complained off too much indigestion or headaches or just that sick feeling you have when you eat a meat meal. I might be a good influence on her yet! I'm not assuming she'll go vegan or even vegetarian but I'm staying hopeful!
As for my eating choices, I'm vegan, of course, but I'm not back to raw, by any means. I did, however, have a housemate (in the guesthouse we're staying in this week) who has an interest in raw, so we had a VERY lengthy discussion about it. He mentioned a handful of raw sites he'd explored (mine was not mentioned which disappointed me, but I guess didn't surprise me too much since I've not actually BEEN raw in several years), and we discussed the benefits. After sharing a non-raw restaurant meal with him and my partner, we went back to the guesthouse and I showed him my site. It was so sad to see how powerful the images of my transformation was, only to know he was looking at the person sitting next to him, and probably questioning why the hell I ever let raw go (since I've gained back 50 of the 100 pounds I lost). Oh well. I know that I have to get back to raw, and I know I have to WANT to be raw again, I just have to motivate myself to do it. I told Steph that once we get moved in and settled here in a few weeks, I'm going to start my journey back to high raw again (which for me will be 75% raw, 25% healthy, veggies cooked).

Thursday we packed the trailer of all of our belongings. Friday the trailer was picked up by ABF at 9:00 am. By noon, I was throwing up and having crazy diarrhea. I either a.) got food poisoning or b.) got a stomach virus, because I continued the vomiting and diarrhea until today around 6:00 pm. I feel great now, I guess cause the entire contents of my stomach and bowels have extricated themselves. Anyway, it was an unplanned 24-hour fast, with only 2 glasses of orange juice during that time, one of which was thrown up a few hours later. We were supposed to leave this morning for our 20+ hour drive to Virginia, but after me being sick, and then Steph seeming to come down with a bit of it herself, we decided we would leave tomorrow morning instead.
The book drawing is over, and the winner of the book, Raw Food, Real World by Matthew Kenney and Sarma MeIngailis, ($34.95 value), is Julie D. Thanks to those who participated in the drawing!
We'll be traveling for the next few days and not sure when internet will be up at our new place, so watch for an update sometime in the next week. I'll be moving back toward a heathlier, raw-er lifestyle, and working on Steph living a higher vegetarian life in the meantime.
