Todd's Raw Journey:
|
July 13, 2008
Sunday. The hard times have caught up with me. I had to ditch my all fruit and nut menu because we hit a poverty streak and the fruit was too expensive. I could still buy fruit, but not enough for me to live on exclusively while feeding my family of five. So I have had to scale back on my raw percentage. I am still high raw, but cannot do it 100% for now. Hopefully things will improve financially (I am sure there are millions of people in worst situations than me and hopefully things will improve for all of us soon), but for now I am about 90% raw I would guess. I have been eating home made popcorn (its cheap) and making burgers out oatmeal and small amounts of ground pecans. The pecans are expensive but I really seek to make them last as long as possible. I find they of all the nut family give the most "beefy" flavor to a burger, yet of course they are not as heavy on the system nor any near as poisonous. Today I definitely over-ate though, as usually it was my penchant for not wanting to waste anything. I made a batch of burgers that I did not add enough water to, so they were dry. They were tasty but just very dry. I started nibbling on them and by about 11:30am I ended up eating all 6 of them. That should have been it, but then my wife made her own batch and of course they came out perfect. So I ate 2 of those also (mistake). I was soooooo full. I will learn one day, but at least the times of over-eating like that are rare these days when in the past they used to be frequent. I did get alot of aerobic activity in today as I did my 4 mile powerwalk and then played full-court basketball with my son for an hour or so. That also helped digest the meals of my over-indulgence. The power-walking is going very well as this is the start of our 3rd week. Today's menu was: Breakfast: Lunch: Dinner: Later: Exercise: July 25, 2008 Friday...Incredible amount of stress these days, especially financial. I don't think my diet has suffered too much although I have not been 100% raw (more like 80-90% I'd guess). Dietary choices must be a balance between what's healthy and what's affordable. I have been receiving much grace so that I don't lose my mind, but I can still feel the stress. It manifests itself in forgetfulness. But I know that in the end it will all work out for good. Today was a typical menu for these days: Breakfast: Dinner: Later: Exercise: 4mile power walk (2lb weights in each hand). |
