Todd's Raw Journey:
|
March 5, 2008 Tuesday. I had some raw pizza yesterday. I made too much so I had it again today (I didn't mind at all). The sauce was the best I have ever made. I think the difference was that I used sundried tomatos and did not use any fresh ones. It made the color more red and the taste more rich. I have left over sauce so I will use it with my burger for tomorrow. Needless to say, I am very much enjoying being 100% raw right now. This is certainly a journey. Its been nearly four years now. I have went from pretty much just salads and fruit to serious recipes. I would think usually its the opposite, but whatever, I am really liking it. My weight had fluctuated from 180lbs at the end of the juice fast to 182-184 now. I don't have a problem with that because, as I stated before, I feel really good at this weight. I plan on going for a run tomorrow. Its been about 2 months between the juice fast and the adjustment period afterwards. I don't expect any issues other than some muscle soreness because I really feel great. The night before last, I felt an energy surge such as I had not felt in about 6 yrs. I went raw for about 4-5 months in 2001 and felt that after about 8 weeks. But not the same way since. I mean I felt this burst like I had taken some sort of drug. It lasted for about 24 hours. I think it coincides with the end of a detox episode I had last week. I felt nauseous for about 3 days. I was eliminating heavily. That was last Thursday-Saturday. Suddenly on sunday I felt fine and that evening I felt super. Some days, like today, I eat only one meal, but its a good meal. Then later I will have fresh juice. Usually, I eat two meals with the last meal done by 1-2pm. I may have juice later depending on how I feel. The heaviest meal is the midday meal. This is working well for my digestion and my energy level.
I realize that, like most Americans, I was trained (by culture) to consume too many calories. The juice fast helped me with that tremendously. Now, I am hoping to remain doing what I am doing and at the times I am doing it. Today's fare was: Brunch: Bowl of fruit salad with orange-date-raisin dressing two raw pizzas. avocado with veggie crackers. Later: March 17, 2008 My weight has been consistently between 182 and 184lbs. In the four years I have been raw, its never been this low for this long. I believe its some sort of shift. I very much like it as I am feeling very healthy and energetic at this weight. Our ministry, The Raw Remnant, has been very active recently as well. We have been speaking about God's Healing Plan using Live Foods pretty much weekly. I believe this whole raw food movement is God's way of trying to wake people up. Overeating and eating processed food is affecting the ability to think clearly and really see things for what they are. Most of the nation appears to be in a death stupor, but the really sad (no pun intended) thing is that they don't realize it. Even if some do realize it, its as if they are powerless to do anything about it. So they just continue on the death march. Its a terrible situation which is why I am very thankful to the Lord for the Raw food movement and I believe it will become more prominent in the near future. Todays fare was: Breakfast: Dinner: Exercise....4 mile jog. March 24, 2008
Monday. I can never get over how fast time is flying. Its already spring and we are at the end of March. Unbelievable. Today was my fast day, so not much to report on the raw food front. I am really enjoying this experience. My oldest son reminded me that I was supposed to be raw for 30 days after the Juice feast. I am about 10 days past that now and not looking back. I am not saying I will always be 100% raw (I have learned better), but I am just not going to count the days. Just go with it. I would like to be able to enjoy broccoli with garlic sauce, but the craving for it is not very strong right now. The dehydrated foods help immeasurably. Between the various types of crackers and burgers along with the pate's and fruit pies, this thing is no problem at all. One thing I learned recently though.I have this habit of forgetting to drink water. That is not a big deal on a juice fast/feast. Nor is it a big deal when I am on all fruit. But when I am eating dehydrated foods it is a big deal. Stuff does not flow out as smoothly if you get my drift. I need to remember to drink plenty when I am not juicing or on just fruit. I have sort of mastered the art of making raw syrup. I will post the recipe here for all that want to try it: Raw Syrup: Blend it all together. I usually pour it over my fruit salad.....delicious!! I have found that the key thing is the same ratio juice/dates and half that amount of raisins. For example yesterday we had a extremely large family fruit salad so I doubled everything. I use this syrup also to add to the fillings for raw pies. Todays fare was: 57oz of water 28oz of fresh squeezed OJ. |
