The Raw Kitchen

People often ask if I just eat salads and fruit. No, not at all. This Raw lifestyle has opened my mind up to millions of dining possibilities. I never knew how many kinds of fruit, vegetables, seeds, nuts, herbs, spices, and gourmet recipes there are - even when I was "cooked." With that said, below is a list of some of the items that someone living the Raw lifestyle might have in their kitchen.

By the way, don't feel overwhelmed if you have only a few things on this list. I did too, when I started, and I still don't have all of them (yet). Think of it as an education - for school, you don't go out and buy all of your books for the entire 4 years, you buy them one class at a time.  Same applies with going Raw. If a recipe calls for 3 spices, a type of nut, and a vegetable, you can use that as an excuse to start your cupboard of spices and pantry of nuts. If you can't afford any major appliances at the moment, consider starting with something small, but equally important, like a vegetable peeler ($1.99), an apple corer ($5.99), or a spiral slicer ($14.99). It's probable that you didn't acquire your microwave, steamer, crock pot, turkey roaster or oven overnight, so think of this the same way. This is a lifestyle, not a fad, so don't worry if it takes time to "get there."
